Petersburg Democrat Election Office Opening

Democratic candidates Lashrecse Aird and Kimberly Pope Adams have opened an elections office here in Petersburg to help coordinate outreach for the November 7th election. Several motivated members of the community came out to celebrate and join in a "day of action". Here are some photos from the opening day!

Meet Louise Lucas

The Petersburg Democratic Committee, is excitedly pleased to announce the keynote speaker for its 27th Annual Banquet, The Honorable State Senator L. Louise Lucas. representing the 18th District in the southeast of the state since 1992. When the Democrats won a majority of seats in the 2019 Virginia Senate election, Senator Lucas succeeded as the Virginia Senate's President pro tempore. She is the first woman and first African American to hold that office. President Pro-Tempore: Senate must choose a president pro tempore to preside over the Senate in the absence of the Lieutenant Governor.

Sheriff Crawford Named Petersburg Hometown Hero

Congratulations to Sherrif Crawford! Vanessa Crawford is one of four Democrats to hold a local constitutional office in the City of Petersbug, and has just been named one of the 2023 "Hometown Heroes". The program was started 20 years ago by the Allen & Allen law firm to recognize and celebrate 20 individuals each year to are making a difference in our community.
