At the state level, Democrats currently hold the Virginia State Senate seat for District 16, which includes Petersburg, Fort Lee, Hopewell, and parts of Richmond.
Democrats are eargerly campaigning to take seats in the Virginia House of Delegates. Repbulicans currently hold the seats for:
- District 63 - Petersburg & Dinwiddie
- District 64 - Fort Lee & Prince George
- District 66 - Colonial Heights & Chesterfield
- District 62 - Hopewell & Chester
